HI EVERYONE THIS IS THE BEST WEEKEND OF THE WINTER!!!!  YOU HAVE YOU CHOICE OF CHILI OR CHOWDER AND LOTS OF IT – COMBINE THAT WITH AN EAGLE WATCHING TRIP ON THE CONNECTICUT RIVER AND TEMPS ABOVE FREEZING IS JUST THE BEST CABIN FEVER ADVENTURE!!!   Chowder – 30 choices at Olde Mistick Village Noon-5pm $1 per taste, $5 for 7 or $`10 for 15 different of the 30 options, your choice.  Chili is Noon-3pm on Main Street in Old Saybrook.  So you could actually Eagle watchin the am, grab a chili and head to mistick village for chowder…..a bit much I agree so make the decision to pick what you want to do this weekend!  Show a receipt for the Eagle watching and you can book overnight accommodations at 20% off.

Eagle Watching on The Connecticut River on weekends in February is a (ch)illing effect.  Bundle up and bring cameras and bicnoculars…..and enjoy.  We all have cabin fever so it is a great fresh air activity.  Come back to the Inn and dine in front of the fireplace.

There is a free concert at Groton Municipal Building Auditorium, Sunday February 7th at 3:00pm.  Do not be fooled it is a nice venue and informal.  The O’Brien Strings – A Classical Trio will be playing this week.

SUNDAY, JAN 10 THERE IS A FREE JAZZ CONCERT AT THE GROTON MUNI BUILDING AT 3:00PM.  IF YOU WISH A LATE CHECKOUT TO ATTEND THIS CONCERT, THE LATE CHECKOUT OF 3PM WOULD BE GRANTED IF YOU TELL THE DESK BEFORE 11:00AM ON THAT DAY! 

East Lyme Light Parade

21st Annual Light Parade- 60 floats and many groups.  I went two years ago and it is a parade that lasts hours.  Street closes at 4pm and parage starts at 5pm.  Come early and park and walk into main street.  Worth seeing.  If you are attending the parade and staying at the Groton Inn and Suites on Saturday night, you can have a 3pm checkout at no charge to attend the parade 

Mistick Festival of Lights

Friday, December 11 – 5-8:30pm Mistick Village has their festival of lights with over 4,000 luminarias.  Strolling Christmas musicians and all shops open for your shopping pleasure.  Come and enjoy and get in the Holiday Spirit.

Mystic Seaport Museum-New Winter Hours

Just Informing our Guests……and readers  Mystic Seaport will be open Thursday thru Sundays only November 30 thru March 27.  That will enhance the visit as more exhibits and the village will be open during those days rather than only some things open in prior years!  Demonstrations will also be open which is different from other winters.  Also two FREE planetarium programs will be offered in the admission.  A new hands on exhibit “Skills of a Sailor” to learn knot tying, using signal flags making bagggywrinkle (not sure what that is) and sining sea chantey songs. Hours will be 10am-4pm.  Visit www.mysticseaport.org for current programs.  We hope this information is helpful!!!!

Lake of Isles Fall Walk

If you are not a golfer and want to see this fabulous course take the 1.5 or 3 mile walk on October 24- 9:45am.  $20 per individual or $40 a family (strollers and wagons and dogs welcome that day!!!)  Money raised is for American Lung Association.  It is extremely beautiful to see this course even as a non-golfer…..
